Quirk, why I won't vote for you
Graham Quirk, It is good that you have committed $20 Million
to save our Pier.
However, as previously advised I told you that I would be
keeping a close eye on what you say in the future. As a consequence I am forced
to again set the records straight.
Your comment in this article that “From day one I have said
I would protect this important piece of Community infrastructure” is not true.
Let me remind you AGAIN that you said initially after you
closed the Pier Due to safety reasons and duty of care (which I do not have a
problem with by the way) you Graham stated on March 21st this year, “If
this Pier has to come down then we would certainly be wanting to erect a Pier of
some sort”
Even when you opened the Bluewater Festival you stated that
there will always be a Shorncliffe Pier, not committing yourself to save the
Pier.
It was not till you
spoke on 4BC on April 12th at 3:50pm did you commit publicly to saving this beautiful
& loved Pier.
The fact of all of this is that it is all a matter of public
record, and though people’s memories can be short, mine and the media’s memory are
not.
Your candidate also in this article stated that “This is not
about Politics” but you had made it a political matter in some of your statements which resulted in my
previous open letter to you.
Now my personal opinion, INTEGRITY and HONESTY is paramount
in my decisions on whom I vote for, Campbell Newman I see as a man who sets
integrity levels to a very high standard, that is why I like him and our new Member Kerry Millard and the
achievement of winning the State election proved that many people had the same
opinion.
You on the other hand, like to play politics and state
mistruths, and this is just one point that I can list. This is why this very conservative voter has for the 3rd time
in his life, voted (pre-poll) for the Labor Party candidate as sadly I see you
as a person who strives on mistruth, and lacks the integrity to get my vote.
