Do Governments Really Listen

I have often though about how Governments listen, regardless of their political beliefs. Just looking at the various news articles regarding Cost of Living, Carbon Tax, Interest Rates, Health, Selling of Assets etc. I see many opinions raised that are the opposite of many of the policies that these people bring down. It is like there is a buffer between what the general populace thinks and writes about, and what the Governments are proposing. I know that they pay a small fortune to advisors and the like, but many times these people get it wrong, why?

My opinion is that as soon as a party gets into power, they cease to listen and depend on faceless people to give them advice, and many of these people seems to filter out important issues and when the Government is queried on their policies and decisions, they give the general answer “but this is what we need or I Understand, but”.

It is about time they took the advice, LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE; we are not as stupid as what you think!
